The One Where We Write One Email

If your email list is gathering digital dust and the thought of re-engaging feels overwhelming, you’re not alone.

In fact, it’s one of the most common struggles out there.

But what if getting back on track was as easy as sending a single, simple email?

That’s the approach Lise, host of the Easy Does It Podcast, shared in Episode 2 — and it’s a total game-changer.

Why We Get Stuck (and How to Unstick Yourself)

Most of us are already creating content somewhere, whether it’s on Instagram, YouTube, or our blogs.

But when it comes to email, we freeze.

Maybe you worry about what your subscribers will think if you pop back up in their inbox.

Or maybe you feel like email needs to be more polished or profound than your usual social posts.

Here’s the truth: Your email content doesn’t need to be wildly different.

Repurposing what you’ve already created is not only okay, it’s incredibly smart.

The “Hey, I’m Back!” Email (and Why It Works)

Lise lays out a practical exercise she shared with a client who had completely ghosted her list. It starts with a simple, honest email:

  • Subject: Hey, I’m going to keep it really simple
  • Body: A quick note saying you’re back, excited, and that you’ll be in their inbox tomorrow. Ask them to reply “yes” if they received your email (and “no” if they didn’t, just for fun).

No links.

No calls to action.

Just a little bit of personality and transparency.

This breaks the ice, resets expectations, and instantly makes your re-entry feel genuine.

Steal From Yourself (and Your Socials)

Next, reuse the content you’re already putting out there!

Copy and paste your latest Instagram posts, reels, Facebook musings, or even snippets from your blog or podcast transcripts.

Adjust a little for context (i.e., if you mention a photo or a reel, include a link or a brief description), but don’t overthink it.

If you create long-form content, Lise recommends using your favorite AI tool to spin blog posts, podcast notes, or YouTube transcripts into newsletter-ready emails.

🤩 Pro tip: Tease the original content in your email to drive readers back to your site, podcast, or channel!

Plan Your Next Three Emails

To keep the momentum going, schedule out your next three emails from this stash of repurposed content.

Aim for one email a week—consistency matters, but so does making this sustainable for you.

Your Business Gets to Be Easy (and Fun)

Ultimately, the message here is that content shouldn’t feel heavy or complicated.

Send the “hey” email, pull from your best existing work, and stay consistent (but not overwhelmed).

As Lise reminds us, your audience just needs to hear from you regularly, not perfectly.
