When it comes to being successful on sites like Upwork, it all comes down to how well you can reach your target market in terms of clients and how well you can serve those clients when you do reach them.
You have to get through the deluge of cheaply priced labour to reach those that are willing to pay you what you're worth.
And how do you do that?
It's About Your Upwork Profile
In my experience, to really stand out you need to make sure that your profile is rock solid. It needs to really speak to a potential client and spell out what it is they can expect when they work with you.
You should ALWAYS include a 100% money back guarantee. By doing this one thing, you'll greatly increase your invitation to pitch for jobs and make it to the interview stage.

The infographic below gives you some more pointers about how you can make your Upwork profile one that will successfully convert potential clients into paying clients.
The areas that you should focus on are:
- your profile photo,
- overview area,
- and tests.

Once you've nailed the above, you can expand on your portfolio (making sure to update it regularly) and look at your categories, connect social media profiles (but avoid connecting your personal pages such as Facebook) and creating a great proposal that lands and converts clients.
