Today's guest post is from Kate Simpson, a young writer who loves sharing her take on work-life balance.

It's no secret that being a responsible, hard-working person can be a challenge. The pressure you feel when at work and the tasks you have waiting for you at home can be exhausting. You can only work so hard to achieve so much every day.

Not only can the long hours spent working reduce productivity, but they can also reduce your wellbeing by pushing both your body and mind at the same time.

This is why it's crucial that there should be a work-life-fun balance in your life.

The focus I want here is on fun.

Why is that? Because the more fun the activity is, the more relaxed you will feel.

The concept of Work-life balance is in adjusting your activities and creating equilibrium between your personal and work life.

It is known to reduce stress levels, increase focus, concentration and satisfaction and gives you the opportunity to improve your health and pursue personal goals and hobbies you have.

There is no magic formula for balancing your life.

The only thing you need to do is to recognize the need to be relaxed and find the best ways to do that.

Read the tips below and start implementing them today.

#1: Breathing exercises

You’ve heard that breathing exercises are a simple way to relax your body and your mind.

The way you breathe affects you greatly and full, deep breathing is the most commonly recommended way to reduce stress, tension and feel more relaxed.

Morning breathing is good in relaxing your muscles, but the best place to do this exercise is outdoors.

Pick out a nice, natural place like the park or a forest. This environment can change your mood in a positive way and will influence your whole relaxation process greatly.

#2: Yoga

Working out is always important and there is definitely no other exercise program that is as enduring as yoga.

Yoga has been present in the exercise world for more than five thousand years and this is not strange because this particular method of workout does not solely burn calories.

By practicing yoga, a person combines strength and stretching poses with meditation and relaxation.

There are many kinds of yoga to be practiced, but I recommend you try these three:

  1. hot yoga
  2. voga
  3. yogacise

What are these?

Hot yoga is exercised under hot and humid conditions, voga combines a breath-synchronisation with expressive dance moves, and vogacise includes using a resistance bench.

Give them a try.

#3: Zumba

Zumba is a dancing exercise that is often done at your local gym in a group class environment.

Zumba includes grooving to flamenco and salsa music and looks like a latin dance party more than it looks like a workout.

Dance your workday stresses away with a class of Zumba!

#4: Binge watching TV

Watching the series of your favorite TV-show can be so relaxing, but it can take up a lot of your time.

This is why people invented ‘binge watching'. Netflix anyone?

Lay down on your couch and take the time to watch your favorite TV shows once a week, rather than taking up precious time throughout the week.

#5: Digital detox

If you are an addict of technology, a detox of this addiction is the right choice for you.

The digital world is fun, but can be overwhelming after constant usage.

Try to spend a weekend in a digital detox period and focus on yourself and family instead. See how long you can go without checking your smartphone, tablet or laptop!

#6: Songs and sounds

You may not know this, but people who live near the ocean or nature seem to have a more relaxed mood.Get out in nature and listen to the sounds and relax

This is why I recommend you create a playlist of sounds of the ocean, bird's chirping or a bubbling brook to listen to when you are stressed out and need some peace.

If you need some ideas, check out Spotify for a playlist, or download the Calm app, it has a variety of nature settings that you'll love.

#7: Pick a hobby

Don't pick any hobby though — pick a hobby that demands concentration and a singular focus.

This can help you remove all worries about your work and do something else with your thoughts instead.

My personal fav is coloring in my adult coloring book.

#8: Spend time with your friends

We all have friends, but try to find those who are not toxic when in need of relaxation.

Connect with people that make you happy and relaxed and are good to be around. Get together with someone that can make your worries go away and have some fun!

These eight simple steps should help you in balancing your life and work, but feel free to let your imagination choose the ways your relax too.
